Our Story

My name is Maddy Harwood and my sister, Kennedy Harwood and I founded Deux Sœurs co. in March 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time we were living together in NYC, sharing a one bedroom, 900 square foot apartment. Like many, when the pandemic hit we went a little stir crazy and in order to refrain from killing each others we began researching, testing, and pouring candles. We brought this dream to life from our kitchen and loved getting the the opportunity to spread some light during these difficult times.

The name, Deux Sœurs co., is French for “two sisters”. We created an all-natural, non-toxic candles that fills the room with beautiful and comforting aromas. We started crafting our scent combinations based on what we loved and went about hand pouring each candle. My favorite scents, sandalwood and pine, became our Santal candle. Kennedy’s favorite scents, rose and black currant, became our Bloom candle. These first two candles have quickly become best sellers and are the foundation of our OG collection, which also includes other familiar and nostalgic scent combinations.

We continue to dream, experiment and create new scents to pour into our collections. We love what we are creating, and we know you will too!
